My child keeps getting 'booted' off during Google Meets.  What should I do?

If your child is experiencing connectivity issues during a Zoom or Google Meet session and they keep getting kicked out/dropped/booted off...

1. Please check with your internet provider that your service is working properly.

2. Restart the device by pressing and holding down the power button for 10-15 seconds.

3. Call the school and get guidance on next steps.  It will likely mean bringing the device to school to test.

Are there any web browsing restrictions on my child's device?

Great question!  Some websites are blocked and should not be accessible on any device (Netflix, TikTok, Snapchat, etc).  We also monitor all web traffic through GoGuardian, which allows us to mirror device screens in real time.  Our administrators also get notifications when explicit material is being searched and/or viewed on your child's device.

What should I do if my computer doesn't turn on?

If your device does not power on...

1. Please be sure that it's plugged in and charging.  There is a small light on the side of the device near the "power" button that shines when it's plugged in and charging.

2. Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds to see if the device has been restarted.

3. If it is charged up and still won't power on, please call the school to get guidance on next steps.

What if my device gets damaged at home and no longer works?

If your device gets damaged (dropped, screen damage, liquid damage, etc) please call and inform the school.  We will arrange for an exchange.  Discovery Academy reserves the right to charge a replacement fee for damaged chrome books.  However, fees and costs will depend on the circumstances of the incident.
